Euainetos aus dem Demos RhamnousX Sekretär war; Beschlüsse des Volkes;im Elaphebolion am dreizehnten, gemäß dem Gott (= Sonne) am achtzehnten, dem achtundzwanzigsten(Tag) der Prytanie; Haupt-Volksversammlung im Piräus; von den Vorsitzenden leitetedie Abstimmung Antipatros S.d. Potamon aus dem Demos Lamptrai und seine Mitvorsitzenden.Beschluss von Rat und Volk;Sodamos S.d. Timasitheos aus dem Demos Oion stellte den Antrag: Da Kephisodoros unablässigsein Wohlwollen gegenüber dem Volk erzeigt hat in jedem Moment,und ungefähr gegen dreißig Jahre Ämter ausgeübt hat in reiner und unbestechlicherWeise; er weder Mühe noch Gefahr vermieden hat umdes allgemeinen Nutzens willen; er alle anderen Pflichten auf sich genommenhat, zu denen ihn das Volk bestimmt hat; er auch Schatzmeisterder Militärkasse gewesen ist in schöner und ehrgeiziger Weise, und dieVerwaltung der Getreidekasse dreimal hintereinander (?) in den Jahren unter Apollodorosund Proxenides übernommen hat; er auch Gesetze eingebracht hat zum Nutzenfür die Eintracht aller Athener, und Ratschläge gegeben hat für gleicheund gerechte Geldeinnahmen; er gezeigt hat, auf welche Weisedas Volk seine bisherigen Freunde sicher erhalten wird und sie in Treueverbleiben und andere hinzugewonnen werden; er die drohendenAnschläge von außerhalb vorausah und ihnen zu wehren gedrängthat; er schöne und dem Volk nützende Bündnisse mitberatenhat; er auch Gesandtschaften geführt hat über die wichtigsten Angelegenheitenzur Rettung für die Städte und für das Umland; er auch Geld undGetreide und andere Geschenke in nicht geringer Zahl besorgt hat; er auchviele und nützliche Beschlüsse beantragt hat, die Ehre und Ansehen undOrdnung dem Volke brachten; er auch, alles Böse verabscheuend, geblieben istbei ein und derselben Haltung die ganze Zeit über; er durch die Kontinuitätseiner Handlungen und Überlegungen ganz besonders Ursache geworden ist- zusammen mit der Gewogenheit der Götter -, dass einerseits das Volk seine Autonomiebewahrt hat, andererseits auch nicht wenige von den anderen GriechenGutes in größtem Maße erhielten; und er durch das alles offenbart hat,dass er zu Recht Ehrung gemäß dem Gesetz erfährt, und nunmehr bittet,dass das Volk von ihm ein Standbild aus Bronze auf der Agora undein anderes im Piräus in dem Handelskontor aufstelle, ferner Speisung im Prytaneionfür sich und den jeweils ältesten seiner Nachkommen, und Ehrensitz bei allenFestspielen, die die Stadt veranstaltet, und diese Bitte an den Ratübergab, die eine detaillierte Aufstellung seiner Taten umfasste;– Damit nun auch das Volk in öffentlicher Weise die guten und verdientenMänner ehrt, und damit auch andere Nacheiferer werden einer solchen Haltung, weilsie stets bei dem Volk der Athener die ihnen zukommende Ehrefinden werden, zu Glück und Heil!, wolle beschließen der Rat: dass dieVorsitzenden, die zum Vorsitz für die kommende Haupt-Volksversammlung erlost sein werden,ihn einführen in die Volksversammlung und hierüber verhandeln lassenund die Beschlussvorlage des Rates in die Volksversammlung einbringen, wonach der Rat esfür gut befindet, dass man belobige Kephisodoros S.d. - - - aus dem Demos - - - und be-kränze mit goldenem Kranz gemäß dem Gesetz wegen seiner Leistung und seinesWohlwollens, das er stets gegenüber dem Volk der Athener hegt, und verkündigediesen Kranz an den Dionysien in der Stadt bei den Tragödien-Uraufführungenund an den Panathenäen und Eleusinien und Ptolemäen bei den Sport-wettkämpfen; dass für die Anfertigung des Kranzes und die VerkündigungenSorge tragen die Generäle und der Schatzmeister der Militärkasse;dass man auch sein Standbild aus Bronze aufstelle auf der Agora und ein anderes imPiräus in dem Handelskontor; dass ihm auch sein solle Speisung im Prytaneionund dem jeweils ältesten seiner Nachkommen, und ein Ehrensitz bei allen Festspielen,die die Stadt veranstaltet; dass die Thesmotheten die Prüfungfür ihn einleiten, sobald die gesetzlich vorgeschriebenen Tage verstrichen sind, - - -- - -- - -

Of the presiding committeeAntipatros son of Potamon of Lamptrai was putting to the vote, and his fellow presiding committee members.The Council and the People decided.Sodamos son of Timasitheos of Oion proposed: since Kephisodoros has displayed to the uttermosthis good will towards the People at every opportunity,engaging in politics for thirty years cleanly and incorruptibly,avoiding no labour or danger for the sake ofthe interest of the community, and undertaking all other public serviceswhich the people assigned to him, and in particular beinggood and reputable as treasurer of the military fund, and in his conduct of the joint treasurership of the grain supply fund,as third member, both in the year of Apollodoros and thatof Proxenides, and making laws conducive tothe harmony of all Athenians, andadvising on fair and just means of raising money, and proposing ways forthe People to keep its existing friends firm in their loyaltyand to obtain others in addition, and foreseeing the plots arisingfrom those outside the country, and being appointed to be in charge of opposing them,and counselling good alliances in the interests ofthe People, and carrying out embassies in respect of the mostimportant matters relating to the preservation of the cities and the countryside, and bringing in moneyand grain and not a few other donations, and proposingmany useful decrees furthering the good repute, effectiveness andseemliness of the People, and maintaining the samepreference all the time, hating what is wicked, and by the consistencyof his deeds and thoughts being particularly responsible,with the goodwill of the gods, for the People'skeeping its autonomy, and for securing the greatest good ofno small number of the other Greeks, and by all these thingsdemonstrating that he deserves to receive honour according to the law; and he requests now thatthe People set up a bronze statue of him in the agora andanother in the Piraeus in the commercial area, and asks for meals for himself in thecity hall and for whoever at any time is the eldest of his descendants, and a seat of honour at allthe competitions that the city puts on, and he has made his request to theCouncil [including an itemisation] of his actions;so, therefore, that the People may be seen to honour good men and[those who at any time become] enthusiasts for such a preference [may know] thatthey will always receive appropriate honour from the Athenian People,for good fortune, the Council shall decide, that the presiding committeeallotted to preside at the principal Assemblyshall bring him before the People and place these matters on the agenda,and submit to the People the opinion of the Council, that it seems good to theCouncil to praise Kephisodoros - - - and crownhim with a gold crown according to the law on account of his [excellence and thegood-will] which he continues to show towards the Athenian People, and to proclaimthis crown at the city Dionysia during the new tragedies,and at the Panathenaia and the Eleusinia and the Ptolemaia during the gymnasticcompetitions; and the making of the crown and the announcementsshall be the responsibility of the generals and the treasurer of the militaryfund; and they are to place a bronze statue of him in the agora and anotherin the Piraeus in the commercial area; and he shall have meals in the city halland whoever at any time is his eldest descendant, and a seat of honour at all thecompetitions that the city puts on; and the thesmothetai are to bring forwardhis scrutiny, when the days specified in the law - - - have elapsed - - -- - -- - -
